We work within UC ANR’s goal to serve every California community and develop resources for extension professionals and stakeholders across California’s agriculture and food systems.
We:
- develop resources to address stakeholder priorities and identify gaps in access to UC ANR programs for communities who have not historically had access to extension services
- work across the food supply chain with the goal of increasing economic opportunity, resilience, and quality of life for California farm and food business operators
- support programs in county-based UC Cooperative Extension offices providing collaborative outreach, education, and technical assistance for niche and emerging specialty crops, culturally important foods, and local marketing and small business development
Farmworker & Food Worker Well-being
We are working to promote a more socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable food system in California. From 2013-2017, UC SAREP collaborated on research evaluating farmworker time and activity in caneberry and broccoli production and provided recommendations for future research to improve the quality of life of California farmworkers.
