Biomass

Above-ground biomass of meadow barley was 3.712+/-0.445 Mg/ha, Mean +/- S.E.M., at the Blue Heron Vineyard (Fetzer Vineyards), Hopland, Mendocino County, California, May 2, 1991. Total above-ground biomass data (dry, cover crop + weeds) was 5.912+/-1.330 (Mg/ha, Mean +/- S.E.M.) (Bugg et al., unpublished data).

Pest Effects, Weeds

Weed above-ground biomass data (dry) was 2.199+/-1.228 Mg/ha, Mean +/- S.E.M. in plots seeded to meadow barley the previous October, Blue Heron Vineyard (Fetzer Vineyards), Hopland, Mendocino County, California. Cover crops were seeded in late October, 1990; harvest was on May 15-16, 1991. Dominant winter annual weeds were chickweed, shepherds purse, rattail fescue, and annual ryegrass (Bugg et al., unpublished data).

Percentage of vegetational cover by meadow barley on May 2 was 53.75+/-7.47 (Mean +/- S.E.M.) (Bugg et al., unpublished data).
