On-Farm Workshop: Growing & Processing Dry Beans - Northern California

Health Care Without HarmUC SAREP & Community Alliance with Family Farmers are pleased to offer this on-farm workshop on dry bean harvest, processing and marketing strategies, particularly for small and mid-scale growers. Participants will tour the farm and see demonstrations of dry bean threshing both by hand and with mechanized equipment. There is no cost for this educational and networking opportunity.

Ryan Casey from Blue House Farm and Teresa Kurtak from Fifth Crow Farm will talk about their approaches to growing, cleaning, and selling beans, demonstrate equipment, and discuss the role of beans in diversified farming systems.

  • Close-toed shoes and be prepared to walk
  • Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)
  • Layers (in the event of cool or wet weather)
  • Water bottle (we will provide water)
