Russell Ranch at the RMI Terroir 2012 event

Nov 10 from 08:45 AM to 06:00 PM
Silverado Vineyards Sensory Theater, Robert Mondavi Institute Sensory Building

The Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Sciences hosts its 2012 Terroir event this weekend--

An in-depth examination of the current understanding of terroir, the mystical and perhaps mythical relationship between the land on which grapes are grown and the wines that are produced from them.

On Friday afternoon, explore the terroir of the Napa Valley, including a guided wine tasting of Napa Valley Cabernet, led by Master of Wine, Peter Marks.  For information on Friday's event "Taste of Napa Cabernet Terroir", please visit: http://robertmondaviinstitute.ucdavis.edu/taste-of-napa-cabernet-terroir

On Saturday, hear about the latest scientific studies of terroir, the extension of the concept of terroir to tea, cheese and other foods, and a debate about what science does or doesn't tell us about terroir. The day begins with a keynote presentation from Rowan Jacobsen, author of American Terroir, and ends with a terroir tasting faire.

Russell Ranch dried tomatoes will be part of Saturday's tasting faire. If you are attending the event, please stop by!
