Sustainable Ag Workshop/Information Fair
How do farm advisors, college professors, ag professionals and school teachers integrate sustainable agriculture into the educational programs offered to their clients and students? What teaching methods are best for sustainable ag concepts and practices? How can sustainable ag education organizations coordinate their programs? These are among the questions to be answered in workshop sessions and at an information fair Nov. 22, 1996 at the UC Davis Buehler Alumni Center. Sponsored by the UC Davis-based statewide Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (SAREP), the daylong event is designed to help Extension personnel and other educators understand and apply the concepts and practices of sustainable agriculture, and get to know the many California organizations involved in these issues. "I am impressed with the variety and quality of sustainable ag education taking place in California," says David Chaney, SAREP education coordinator. "We are looking forward to hearing about them and discussing new educational opportunities that build on these programs." A new directory of educational programs and instructional resources for California will be available at the conference, Chaney says, as well as in searchable form through the SAREP World Wide Web site at http://www.sarep.ucdavis.edu.
