- Progress Report to the California State Legislature on the
Implementation of Assembly Bill 3383 and AB 1998, January 2003. This report
covers the BIFS program from January 2001 through December 2002, including the
results of seven BIFS projects: rice in Butte County, walnuts in San Joaquin
County, citrus in Fresno County, strawberries on the Central Coast, apples in
Contra Costa County, prunes throughout the Central Valley, and dairies, also
throughout the Central Valley. Report also describes the most recent competitive
grants cycle resulting in funding a new winegrape project on the Central Coast,
pesticide use analysis of BIFS commodities and projects, and results of grower
surveys.

as well as the latest competitive grants cycle that resulted in the funding
of 5 new three year demonstration projects in rice, citrus, prunes, walnuts,
and strawberries.

establishment and the first year of funding for the first two BIFS projects:
the Lodi-Woodbridge Winegrape Commission Winegrape BIFS, and the West Side BIFS
involving cotton and row crops on the West Side of the San Joaquin Valley.
